KidsYogArts: Rainforest :)

"Our intention for this class is to let the children know how important to protect the animals and preserve the rainforest. Together we can make a difference to take care of mother earth, so our next generation can live in a better world..."

YPAC

A good friend of mine, Tina (she's a yoga instructor for kids, who works at Bliss WellnessCo)....asked me to come along with her to go YPAC...because she's helping them with some of the therapy there and she knows my interest to learn more about Special Needs.

YPAC : Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (National Foundation for Disabled Children).
It's a place to prevent early disability and children with disabilities to become the next generation that will have equality rights of disabled in order to achieve the perfect well being.

We went straight to see the art & craft room. They practice their fine motor skills by making necklaces with beads or sewing. When we entered the room, they welcomed us with a very friendly smile. I could tell that they smile sincerely :)
I got goosebumps and was touched by their willingnes to try to make something. Despite of their disabilities, they can still laugh and smile :)

That's Lusi. She's 30 years old now. The teacher said that she's very smart. It just that she doesn't want to go to university because she's affraid that the lecturer will have problems communicate with her. It's so sad to hear that, because actually she's smart. Got this article about 4 Ways iPads Are Changing the Lives of People With Disabilities, from my friend Tina, maybe you can read it too. If we have the tools, we can send Lusi to university. Anyone know the equipment that can help her?

This is Ibu Akie, she's good at weaving. But the cute story is that she's very moody :) If she's in the mood to do some weaving, she'll do it fast. But she's also has the mood to skip school let say...for 2 weeks hehehe. So nobody's doing it.

Unfortunately YPAC still using the old system for the curicullum, but I was impressed with the teachers there who already teach those kids with patience.

Who wants to volunteer to help them and teach art & craft at YPAC?...that later hopefully can be beneficial to them and we can help them become more independent Let's help them, shall we? :)

Move, Learn, Eat: Around the World in 3 Stop-Motion Short Films

From Rick Mereki, Tim White and Andrew Lees come three poetic and ambitious short films shot over the course of 44 days in 11 countries across 38,000 miles by way of 18 flights, exploring movement, learning and food — no better way to enter the weekend.

LEARN from Rick Mereki on Vimeo.

EAT from Rick Mereki on Vimeo.

It’s also noteworthy that Rick doesn’t appear to have a personal site or Twitter account or any centralized online presence, and even sports a Hotmail email, yet he was able to produce some of the most creatively compelling footage I’ve come across in a long time — a lesson in not judging a proverbial book by its (digital) cover. (That, or the whole thing is a viral hoax that will eventually turn out to be high-budget production promoting the recently rolled out Vimeo PRO. But let’s stay with the earnest, non-cynical take for now.)

Seasons: A Meditation on Change by French Illustrator Blexbolex

Seasons: A Meditation on Change by French Illustrator Blexbolex
 by Maria Popova

French artist Blexbolex has charmed the world with his playful cartoons and illustrations, to which he brings his wonderfully eclectic creative background — classically trained as a screen-printer in 1980s France, inspired by the whodunits of the 1950s and 60s, and having directed a German art studio in the 1990s, he blends elements of cartoons, graphic novels and soft watercolor painting into simple yet endlessly whimsical artwork.

In Seasons, he contemplates the fluctuations of seasonality with his signature retro-inspired minimalism. Four spreads depict the same landscape during each season, with a single word or phrase in bold block-letters on each page. But don’t breeze by the seeming simplicity of the concept — many of the thoughtful pairings on the beautiful double-page spreads give you pause and make you wonder why and how the two words go together, gently nudging you towards a philosophical meditation on the seasons, change and impermanence.

Seasons comes from Enchanted Lion Press — an utterly charming, as-indie-as-they-come, family-owned independent publisher of (mostly) children’s books, located right up the street from my studio in Brooklyn. It’s such heart-warming joy to see good people doing wonderful work, driven by nothing more than genuine passion for what they do — if every neighborhood could have more of that, the world would be a better place.

Sweet Potato salad

I just love orange/red sweet potato, so I tried this one.

All you need:

-Lettuces
-Sweet potato (red/orange) ..boiled...
-Onion
-Cheddar cheese (cut into small dices)...

The ingredients for my version of caesar salad dressing are:
a bit of anchovies, 2 tbsp mayonaise, a couple of mashed cloves of garlics, olive oil, a bit of lemon juice. Basicly how much for this and that it's up to your taste.
Just mix everything, season with salt and pepper, and then you'll get your caesar dressing :)

Don't you just love the color? I just love colorfull food, especially with their own natural colors :)

Pieces [Original] x KERO ONE

(Sam)
stop, take a look around the physical
world, do you see all the invisible
girls and boys in situations, critical
worlds apart from us, so minuscule
the problem appears from behind a screen
we're thousand of miles away from torn dreams
so as the good Word goes:
"what good is it to gain the world but lose your soul?"
so what is cash but a way to show you care?
if your money's where your heart is, with whom will you share?
will you keep your heart covered while the under-served bear
the pain undeserved, will you do nothing more than just stare,
or lend out your own hand?
the beauty of creation is when together we stand
so don't just sit there, my friend it's on you!
a little goes a long ways when your love is true

*here's little a piece of my heart
spreadin' light to the darkest parts

and i hope that a smile will shine
illuminate the world with a love so bright

here's little a piece of my heart
spreadin' light to the darkest parts

and i hope that a smile will shine
i'll show the world i got a love so bright

(Kero)
i see people get shot right below my window sill
over love, drugs, colors and wrinkled bills
thugs huggin' stainless steal with intent to kill
out to destroy for real what was meant to build
sportin' scars on their sleeves and walk their hearts on a leash
barkin' at peace talkin' smart with police, please...
you think it's gonna stop soon brother?
as long as the sun shines, we'll always have thunder
but love conquers all, so we'll always have to wonder
what life could be like if we lived LOVE for others
'cause fo'sho, we know what it's like without it
just look at the body and chalk lines that surround it

*

so we gotta get up and show that our love is true
get up and do what we've got to do
'cause time aint slowing down for no one
we're the children of hope, yea the daughters and the sons
so get up and show that your love is true
get up and do what you've got to do
and keep on fighting 'til the war is won
for the children of hope, yea the daughters and the sons
