Bare Necessities :)

This one from The Jungle Book never fails me (ˆ⌣ˆ)

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life

Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard
'Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard

And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true
The bare necessities of life will come to you

"Kutakatik" Art & Craft for kids at The Goods Department

Thank you to Elda and Anton, "Kutakatik" got invited for a showcase at The Goods Department.

The poster is from Whiteboard Journal

Some of them were sewing...

Some of them were making dolls...

And some of them just love making cameras :)

It's nice working in a nice shop/store with good food and good music :)
The Goods Department is located at Plaza Indonesia extension 4th floor. I recommend you the Portobello Mushroom Burger and the Coffee Bailey's Milkshake...oh so nyummy! :p

Mango orange honey popsicle

I just love colors on food...and especially with their natural colors. I made this mango orange honey popsicle, it's nyummy :) It's healthy too and you can have it for your kids too.

 Easy peasy, all you need...

- 6 cups mangos (diced...)
- 2 cups oranges
- 2 tbsp honey
(everything depends on your taste...you can change how many cups you want to use...)
You just have to blend them all (with a blender of course). Taste it, if it's already perfect for you, then it's ready.

You can drink it as a smoothie, for your morning breakfast perhaps :)

As for the posicles, divide it into the ice-pop molds, put the sticks in. And freeze it until solid 4 - 6 hours (or more).
And voila...look at those orange sunny color...hmmmm :)

Enjoy :)

Ooow, maybe you can try this strawberry yoghurt ice pops too.

Cinnamon Oat Pancakes

I got this recipe from Martha Stewart's web. Let's make some :)

All you need:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
2 cups milk
2 large eggs
1/4 cup vegetable oil, plus more for skillet

How to make:

In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and 1 cup oats and pulse a few times to coarsely grind oats. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and oil. Add dry ingredients and 1 cup oats and whisk just until moistened.

Heat a large skillet (nonstick or cast-iron) or griddle over medium. Lightly oil skillet. Using 2 to 3 tablespoons for each pancake, drop batter in skillet and cook until a few bubbles have burst, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip pancakes and cook until browned on undersides, 1 to 2 minutes more. Repeat with more oil and batter.

Voila!

With jam and butter

With Baked Apple and vanilla ice cream

I like it because it has a bit nutty, rough texture on it because of the oat. And it's not as heavy as the usual pancake. You can serve them with butter, jam, maple syrup, banana,  powdered sugar, vanilla ice cream and baked apple...or up to you.

And...here's the easy recipe for Baked Apple :)

Easy Baked Apple

I feel like making something quick and simple...and I don't want to get messy hehehe. So this was on my mind...Easy Baked Apple with vanilla ice cream :)

All you need:

4 or 5 medium apples
2 tbsp of butter
2 tsp of brown sugar
2 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 cup water

How to make:

- Preheat oven to 180-200C degrees.
- Wash your apples off. You can peel them or leave the peelings on, it's up to you. Cut your apples in half and then in half again (quartered). Now cut them into bite-size pieces.
- Put 1/4 cup of water in the bottom of the baking sheet. Add the apples, butter, cinnamon and 2 brown sugar.

Cover and bake for 30 minutes (or until apples are tender). Let cool for a few minutes then serve.

Enjoy it! A quick and simple recipe :)

Of course...for me....with vanilla ice cream and extra cinnamon :)

DIY camera

Nicole (4.6 y.o) wanted to make camera from used cereal box and used toilet paper roll, with some plastic bottle. Which one and where to stick it...it's all her ideas. I just helped her with the sellotape.

And this is Kazuki (5 y.o). He's very creative with paper. I'm amazed by his capability to make something from paper. Only with cutting and tape. This one he cut it, drew a bit and fold it by himself. I just helped him with the sellotape.

They both have their own ideas, I just helped them with the sellotape. Simple things that made smile :)

Peekaboo

 Introducing "Peekabo" by Whatelse?!

My friend is making cute Tshirts for kiddos. I was very happy when she asked me to be apart of it. She asked me to make "boneka" (the dolls) for the Tshirts. It's a cute Tshirt, so she'll put my dolls into the pocket (as you can see just like in the picture here) with a button that sticks to the pocket (inside), and when they take the dolls out, it looks like the they're hanging from the pocket :)

This is my "boneka" :)

Peekabo has 4 kinds of Tshirt. All colors are white, but the stripes are in different colors. They have green, blue, red and gray. And the dolls are different too. Just like in the picture :)
They sell it for Rp.95.000,-

If you need more info, you can email my friend at infowhatelse@gmail.com

Shirataki stir-fry with tofu, enoki mushroom and bok choy :)

You girls should try this one if you want to eat noodles without gaining weight :p You can google it if you want too. Shirataki noodles, contain zero net carbohydrates and zero calories, no gluten -made of a healthy natural fiber called Glucomannan. This Shirataki noodle can be bought in supermarkerts, I bough these in Citos Foodhall at the Japanese food section. I made it with three of my favorite ingredients (just like my miso soup) tofu, enoki mushrooms and bok choy.

What you need:

1tsp minced garlic
1/2 package tofu
1 tbsp pure cornstarch
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
2 cups shirataki noodles
1 tbsp ginger root
Bok Choy
Enoki mushrooms
(you can use other vegetables/meat/chicken...it's up to you)

How to make:

- In a separate mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, and garlic. When adding the constarch, mix it with a little water to avoid having lumps in your sauce. Mix in cornstarch mixture and keep sauce to the side until called for.

 - Add chopped bokchoys, and for the enoki mushrooms I like it just the way they are :p and  then...sautee over medium heat. I usually add the tofu midway through. Once bokchoys, enoki mushrroms and tofu are cooked add the sauce.

 - Rinse shirataki noodles and add those to the pan. The sauce should start bubbling and thickening up. Continue to stir contents of the pan so the sauce completely coats everything.

Once the sauce is thick and well mixed in, serve :)

Try it and check this site :)
