Indonesia World Batik Summit 2011

Last weekend my plan was to go to Bandung, but something came up, so I cancelled it.  My friend needed some help and hey, there's Indonesian World Batik Summit in town :) So I went to Indonesian World Batik Summit. It was great and lots of beautiful batik fabrics. Since my late Eyang Putri love to wear "kebaya & sarung", I love to wear them for weddings invitation and love to collect them as well.

One of my favorite from last Indonesian World Batik Summit was Sekar Jagad gallery, they're really cool. They curated the collection, very educational.

Parang Barong is my favorite of all time :)

This Parang Klithik is very pretty :)

This Kampuh Parang is very pretty too. They used Kampuh Parang, Slobok & Kawung for death ceremonial in Solo.

This Cangkring is used for ceremonial in harbors. Everything created by God will come back to God.

And then...let's go to another place...

This beautiful "Sarung" it's a cloth to replace woman's pants. Production year 1870, place of origin: Lasem, influenced by chinese culture.

This one is sarung Pekalongan. Love the design. Production year 1910/1920.

I like this one. It's called "Menuju Sawung".  A view that human beings will go through three realms of life: Alam Gaib, Alam Rame and Alam Sunyaruri.

NTT's never fails me :)

Would love to hang this one day in my room/own house :)

Got one of these from them...oldie but goodie :)

Don't you just love them? :)

Highlight of the day....got this handmade bag from China (at the batik world summit). The color was amazing!! I fell in love instantly and bought it :p

My simple drawing :)

I was in the mood for some drawing. I drew Adina and some simple words.
After that, I ordered some frames to complete the drawings.

And I made my own simple DIY garland and flower.
I can put the garland wherever I want to, it's not attached to the frame :)

That's the pink flower for Adina :)

Yaiyyy this pic is from Elda (Adina's mom). I already gave it to her.

Now where should I put the "simple word" drawing? I just love giving gifts (randomly) to my friends...we'll see who's next. More to come for sure :)

Snapper with orange purple sweet potato & mayo basil with salad

Inspired by Jamie Oliver's recipe. I'm in the mood for healthy colorfull food :)

Some of the ingredients:

All you need for the sweet potato:
- medium sweet potatoes, scrubbed clean and cut lengthways into wedges
- olive oil
- herbs, salt, pepper

Preheat the oven to 200ºC. Toss the sweet potato wedges in a roasting tray with a pinch of salt and pepper, herbs and a drizzle of olive oil. Cook in the hot oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

Meanwhile...

All you need for the fish:
- snapper fillets
- salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
- eggs, beaten
- 50g breadcrumbs

Put the snapper fillets on a board and sprinkle over a pinch of salt and pepper and the flour, making sure they’re well coated on both sides. Dunk the floured fillets in the beaten egg then transfer them to the breadcrumbs and push and turn them until well coated on all sides. Put a large frying pan on a medium heat. Add olive oil, cook the fillet for 7-8 minutes. Use your instincts and let it cook until golden on the underside before flipping it over and reducing to a low heat while it finishes cooking

All you need for the basil mayo:
- 4 sprigs of fresh basil
- 2 tablespoon mayonaise
- juice of ½ a lemon
(all to taste)

Chop off the tough ends of the basil stalks then pound the rest of it with a pinch of salt in a pestle and mortar until you’ve got a paste. Add the mayonnaise and lemon juice and muddle it all together.

And here it is...I just love food with their natural colors. Serve the snapper with a portion of sweet potato, basil mayo and  some delicious crisp red & green salad.

Easy peasy :)

PS: I got the salads, basil leaves and purple sweet potatoes from YUM's organic farm. Only for Rp.55.000,- you can have many kinds of veggies like this picture. Go check it.
