Happy to have a reunion with my old ballerina friends, my seniors and my teacher Farida Oetoyo. Can't wait to start my ballet class again with her...hehehe :)
I saw this traditional javanesse dance last friday, for the opening of Indonesia Dance Festival. It was performed by 7 males dancers. It was beautiful I tell you that! Amazing that they can dance like that. Coz I've been learning traditional javanese dance now, and I know which part it's hard and easy....and those males really2 can dance. Makes me want to learn more and more :)

I always love to see traditional Indonesian dance and the story behind it. Can't wait to see Matah Ati again. You should see it. Very recommended :)
I've been practicing traditional Javanesse dance nowadays. It was one of the list from my bucket list...to learn traditional Javanesse dance. And we performed last night (with my sister and the ladies from Ardhanari) and it was a great experience for me, because it was my first time to dance traditional Javanesse dance and to be able to dance with live gamelan....surreal! I know that i'm already in my 30s...but hey...so what? I love to dance and I want to learn anyway :)
How I love the make up, accessories and costumes...the colors....especially this one for Golek Menak...one of theclassicaldancestyle ofYogyakarta, whichwas createdby Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX.
We are family :)
This is my group. We performed a traditional Javanesse dance called "Nawung Sekar". It's a basic one, but it was so much fun because we got to dance with kids too :)
I used to work at this International Kindergarten and last saturday was they're year end concert. I miss all my students there, I've known them since they're still babies till they're in KG. To me...all my students are my babies and I was very very very happy to meet all of them again :)
I've been wanting to learn traditional Javanese dance since a long time a go. Then me and my sister heard about Ardhanari Performing Arts Studio & Management. So yes...we're now rehearsing for our first time performance :p Eventhough we're now in our 30s...hey, it's never too late to learn something new right? We both love to dance anyway :)
Come and join us, it's all about dancing....enjoy it and be happy :)
Matah Ati is based on a true story, from one of Indonesia's epic story, takes audiences on an epic journey back in time to 17th century of Java, The Javanese palace of Mangkunegaran. It is a traditional dance opera performance, Javanese song and music as expressed by a Surakarta-Mangkunegara Classical Javanese dance combined with contemporary adaptation and spectacular art direction.
I was amazed by Rambat Yulianingsih's voice and the way she danced was amazing. She was Rubiah in Matah Ati, one of the main character. I wish I could dance like her. Makes me want to learn Javanese dance now :)
The opening act, "dolanan" act, "perang gagal" act, "pecut besar" act, "three girls seducing Raden Mas Said" act, "tari bedaya" act...those were my favorite parts, I got goosebumps. But overall still it was an amazing performance.
All these pics are from google pics and the guide book of Matah Ati :)

I've been waiting for this Lion King Musical for almost 6 years. Dreams do come true :) I got to see it last Sunday in Singapore. Happy tears...yes, I got happy tears, goose bumps while watching it.
We weren't allowed to take pictures, but...I wanted to share it with my friends, so me and my cousin were able to took 4 pics :p
Julie Taymor (as the art director of the show) said she was inspired by Indian, African and Indonesian culture. I was so proud as an Indonesian because there's this part where Zazu sang "Rasa Sayange". Not a long version of it, but still, it's from Indonesia. And I can see some "wayang" (shadow puppet/javanese puppetry) elements on some of the backdrops too.
Costumes, stages, props & everything in it...awesome!! Hats up to Julie Taymor.
