Matah Ati is based on a true story, from one of Indonesia's epic story, takes audiences on an epic journey back in time to 17th century of Java, The Javanese palace of Mangkunegaran. It is a traditional dance opera performance, Javanese song and music as expressed by a Surakarta-Mangkunegara Classical Javanese dance combined with contemporary adaptation and spectacular art direction.
I was amazed by Rambat Yulianingsih's voice and the way she danced was amazing. She was Rubiah in Matah Ati, one of the main character. I wish I could dance like her. Makes me want to learn Javanese dance now :)
The opening act, "dolanan" act, "perang gagal" act, "pecut besar" act, "three girls seducing Raden Mas Said" act, "tari bedaya" act...those were my favorite parts, I got goosebumps. But overall still it was an amazing performance.
All these pics are from google pics and the guide book of Matah Ati :)
