When you're smiling :)

Yesterday I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity Indonesia at Sentul, fun as always. I met this lovely lady, reminds me of one of my favorite songs "When you're smiling...the whole world smile with you.." :)

When you're smiling
When you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you
When you're laughing
When you're laughing
The sun comes shining thru
But when you're crying
You bring on the rain
So stop your sighing be happy again
Keep on smiling
'Cause when you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you

28uild or not to 28e, it's in my hand :)

Another volunteer trip to Mauk, Tangerang with Habitat For Humanity last weekend. This time we're there for 28uild program. A program for Indonesian Youth based on "Sumpah Pemuda" on 28 October 1928. On the same date in 2011, Indonesia re-unite young people to build Indonesia to be a better place for all citizens. Habitat for Humanity Indonesia invites all young people to build houses for the poor.

Last weekend was one of the activities from that program. We're there to help to build more houses 220 volunteers. Lots of them were highs school students. I worked with Pak Hadi and 15 kids from Binus Simprug year 11. We helped Pak Pak Sadat & Ibu Sanamah.

As always...it was an incredible feeling to be able to help :)

Habitat for Humanity, Mauk, Tangerang

Remember my post about volunteering for Habitat For Humanity ? After 3 weeks...yesterday I went back to Mauk, Tangerang...volunteered and worked with Habitat For Humanity Indonesia family and friends from PGTI (Persekutuan Gereja Tionghoa Indonesia) again.

Some beautiful view on our way to Mauk, Tangerang

This time we painted 18 houses that's already been built. And I was excited to meet Pak Saman and Ibu Onih again :) They were excited too yesterday because the house is almost ready!

Our task yesterday was to help them to paint the house and to clean a bit of this and that. We worked together as a team :)

Me and Ibu Onih

There it is...Pak Saman and Ibu Onih new house. It was a great feeling to be there for this moment and to see Pak Saman Ibu Onih face....and the other faces from 18 houses :)

Habitat For Humanity

I always love to volunteer for social work. This time, I wanted to share some pictures with you from last friday, I went to Mauk, Tangerang and spent a night there with Habitat For Humanity Indonesia family. I was very pleased to volunteer on their project. Habitat For Humanity builds houses for very poor people. This time they worked together with their donors from PGTI (Persekutuan Gereja Tionghoa Indonesia).

This is one of the house that we're going to help. We made foundations for 18 houses that day. That house belongs to Pak Saman & Ibu Onih. I helped them with 1 professional contractor from Habitat For Humanity and 8 kids from PGTI
By the way, Pak Saman's salary is only 200 thousand rupiah per month, can you imagine?

Pak Saman & Ibu Onih

I was very happy to have a nice conversation with Pak Saman & Ibu Onih :) Ibu Onih is a very friendly lady.

It was an incredible feeling being there on that event. And Desa Mergamulya has lots of beautiful tall coconut trees and a clear blue sky :) More pics here.
