I was thinking of making some DIY pop up card for my good friend's birthday. I love to make something with paper....and do some cutting and pasting with paper too...like this one and this one and the bear with red nose :) This time I wanted to make it a bit simple.
You just need colorfull paper, glue, double tape, small scissors, cutter and marker.

Start with a simple card and fold it in half. Then cut parallel lines (in pairs of the same length) into the middle fold as shown in the picture. The cuts should be max half the length of the card (otherwise they'll stand out when you close it). Push the flaps forward until your card looks like in the bottom picture.
Now start crafting the bits and pieces to display in your card. I made some balloons and tree. Stick these with paper glue or double tape onto the front (not top) part of the folded out flaps. Now when you close your card, it'll look like in the bottom left picture. Just take a 2nd card and glue it on to cover the outside.
...onto the flaps and voila...you're done :)
Mine (this one) was not finished yet when I took this pic. But now, on the other front part of the folded out flaps, I wrote my good friend's name on the other tree. I forgot to take picture of this card that's already finished. I already gave the card :p
You can do it with your kids too, of course they'll do the drawing and you'll do the cutting.
Make any cards for any occasion, I just love simple cards with simple words :)

I got the inspiration from Jordan Ferney's blog.
